_My Zia Angela told me that when we go to India I'll see hundreds of peacocks. For the first month in Tamil Nadu and Kerala I laughed and thought how ridiculous that was. One month, and yet I haven't seen a peacock! Of course, I was being ignorant. Peacocks wouldn't survive in that weather! Or at least I THINK they wouldn't.
But when we hit Ragasthan, on the bus ride to Agra, I saw two gorgeous peacocks, strutting around in a farmer's field. I was surprised, but was yet to be amazed when two pecked at the ground in the garden of our hotel in Agra. Then another night there were two in a tree, making a commotion as they flapped from branch to branch, higher and higher. I didn't know peacocks had any notion of flying! The next morning I was sure they'd dropped a feather or two, and went searching frantically. Unfortunatly, I returned empty handed.
Now, if we see a peacock while on the bus we just think 'oh, look there, peacocks' and then it slips out of our mind. I know I was extremely lucky to see peacocks, but I wish I'd seen one when it's feathers are spread out. I only ever saw them with their feathers down. But who knows? I might see that spectacular scene when I return to India.
Bye,
Allie
