About a week ago we met a couple named Marianne and Graeme in a town called1770. A few days ago we saw them again in Noosa Heads, where they lived. We started talking and they invited us to dinner at their house. We said we'd phone them because we were trying to contact the Steve Irwin Zoo to volunteer. Two days later the Zoo told us we had to be 16 or older to help and there were a lot of papers that needed to be filled so we decided it was out of the question. We arranged to meet Graeme and Marianne for dinner that night. We had a little trouble finding the address but we eventually found it and . . .

I could hardly believe that the house was their house. If I lived in Australia, I'd pick that house as my house. It was ocean themed with brilliant shades of blue and white. There were shells, flowers, fish and other decrotave trinkets in all the rooms. They even had a echidna toothpick holder! Marianne had said before that she was the worst chef, but it was clear that she was wrong. We had chicken pockets, cooked vegetables and my favorite, scalloped potatoes in some kind of delicious cream! Even the table was nicely set; gold-rimmed plates and little flower candles. All through dinner and the rest of the night we talked and talked. It was easy to talk around them. They didn't make me feel rushed and instead I felt relaxed, adding in bits and peices into the conversation. They told stories about going to Egypt and haggling and how many flights they'd had to take on one airline to get from a Greek Island back to Australia. I enjoyed it immensly and once it reached nine o'clock I started to drift off. Marianne made a nice little bed for me on the couch and I fell asleep. Later on in the night Dad woke me up and carried  me downstairs to a bed Marianne and Graeme had offered since it would have been too much of a fuss to get the

bed set up in the camper-van. In the morning I woke up and had cereal for breakfast. We took

showers and used their internet, then sadly left. I had such a good time and am very grateful.

Thank-you Marianne and Graeme!!!
Tommorow we leave Australia. So sad.
