__At the Hotel Everest in Pushkar, our room is on the roof, along with the restaurant. Every morning when we are ready to go out for breakfast, I love to take pictures of the monkeys. At first I thought they were the cutest things ever, and I still think that, but I now have a diffrent perspective.
One day we were walking by the holy lake and a male monkey, about as big as a standard poodle, galloped up to me. At first I thought it was going to go past me, but just to make sure I stepped aside unfortunately a little too late. It lunged at me and tried to grab my new shoes.  It ended up ripping the bag that held my guavas! I was trembling for such a long time afterward!
Then there was a time at Amber Fort back in Jaipur when the monkey jumped at Birch. He was taking pictures at a safe distance, but . . .

_the baby monkey was a little too curious and went a little too close. The mama monkey scooped up her baby, then flew at Birch, attempting to scratch him. Thankfully he was wearing jeans, and she only clawed at his pant leg.
_But, really, I think we evolved from monkeys, or something like that. I don't think I believe that logic exactly. If it were true, then why aren't all the monkeys humans?
I love watching the babies play, tumbling over each other and tackling one and other in attempt to push the other off the roof. It's also cute when they grab onto their mother's tummy and hang on while she walks.
Just like humans, they don't eat the peel on the banana skin! And there was this one time when one was in a tree, shaking it to make some kind of an exotic fruit fall to the ground! Birch always caught them and cracked the shell, then fed the insides to the monkeys.  They love him now!
Bye,
Allie

Dear Allegra, I read your blog and I really like it. The pictures of the monkeys you took were great! I remember when we went to a temple in India and the monkeys stole my camera. Luckily I got it back but I kept my distance after that. I thought the video you posting was hilarious! Thanks for posting. I can't wait to read more!
