One day we were walking by the holy lake and a male monkey, about as big as a standard poodle, galloped up to me. At first I thought it was going to go past me, but just to make sure I stepped aside unfortunately a little too late. It lunged at me and tried to grab my new shoes. It ended up ripping the bag that held my guavas! I was trembling for such a long time afterward!
Then there was a time at Amber Fort back in Jaipur when the monkey jumped at Birch. He was taking pictures at a safe distance, but . . .
I love watching the babies play, tumbling over each other and tackling one and other in attempt to push the other off the roof. It's also cute when they grab onto their mother's tummy and hang on while she walks.
Just like humans, they don't eat the peel on the banana skin! And there was this one time when one was in a tree, shaking it to make some kind of an exotic fruit fall to the ground! Birch always caught them and cracked the shell, then fed the insides to the monkeys. They love him now!
Bye,
Allie
