Here we are on the Ferry to Manley Beach
It's been so long since I have blogged that I have almost forgotten it all.  Long, long story, short:
We went to beaches, got to Canberra and went to the new parliament building and the war memorial, left for Sydney, met up with Mom's friend Jeff and his family in Sydney, explored alot of Sydney including the Opera house, went on a ferry to Manley Beach (All the stores names started with Manley ex: Manley Pharmacy), ate lots of candy, Mom left to go to Florida to see her Dad.
There are a few events that I would like
. . .

to put more detail into.  In Canberra Mom met a woman named Victoria (Tori) while making her morning coffee.  They talked and soon Tori knew all about our world trip.  She had the same experience in Canada and knew how hard it was as well as exciting.  She offered hospitality at her house and we gladly accepted.  When I heard that I was going to someone elses house I was surprised that she trusted us that easily.  I guess that's just what good people do.  Also as Dad pointed out later, inviting a family into your home is very different than inviting a lone backpacker.  She fed us breakfast, made Mom and Dad coffee and gave us a key so she could go to work and we didn't have to rush out.  We did our laundry, showered and let to explore Canberra after lunch.   She has a teenage son Olly who was also very kind and nice to talk to.   We went to the Australian National Museum and learned all about the Australian history and culture.  We came home and had a great dinner and afterward a great sleep in an actual bed.  The next morning we had a quick breakfast and set off on the road again.       I am really grateful that Tori opened her heart and home to us.  It really shows that there is a lot of good caring people in the world.

Hi Allegra! You are so right about how nice and reassuring it is to know there are people in the world who would open up thier home to strangers. Wow that is so nice!! I hope you find more people like Tori. I do hope your grandpa is feeling better. Lovely picture of you and your Dad. You've got to frame this one. We all send our love.
